The list we have for you today features the 12 top cancer-causing products we all have in our home. The list was compiled by The Cancer Prevention Coalition and contains a list of common customer products manufactured in the USA.
The exposure to chemicals and toxins is incredible nowadays. Chemicals and toxins are hiding in the food we eat, the drinks we consume and the products we frequently use. You might not think that your bed or cookware is dangerous, but due to the materials used, it’s far deadlier than you can think of.
Here’s are the 12 most dangerous carcinogenic products in your home:
Non-stick cookware is fairly common nowadays. However, studies have found that this type of cookware releases toxic chemicals in our food during the cooking process and when heated up, the protective coating of these pans is destroyed at a molecular level. Over time, the coating will eventually be destroyed, resulting in the release of many carcinogenic chemicals. Instead of non-stick cookware, you should use ceramic or glass cookware – it might be more expensive, but it’s far safer for you, your family and the environment.
Artificial sweeteners such as aspartame, acesulfame K, sorbitol and saccharin have been linked to various types of cancer and other serious ailments. This means that swapping sugar for these sweeteners is not a healthy decision – in fact, it’s even worse. Instead of these products, use xylitol, Yacon syrup, erythritol or stevia to sweeten up your meals and drinks.
Talcum powder is commonly added to deodorants and roll-on sticks and is labeled as talc. This dangerous chemical has been associated with irritation and ovarian cancer in more than 20 studies, so maybe it’s time we stop using it. A recent study showed that talc raises the risk of ovarian cancer by a whopping 20-30% and is especially dangerous for women who use talcum powder for intimate hygiene.
Plastic Water Bottles and Food Containers
Plastic water bottles and containers are far more dangerous than we think of. The chemicals from the containers will eventually leak into the liquid or food and make their way to our body. One of the most dangerous chemicals found in plastic water bottles is Bisphenol-A which has been linked to a variety of ailments. Even the FDA has expressed some concern about this carcinogenic chemical which is especially dangerous for children and the environment.
Instead of plastic water bottles and food containers, go for glass or metal ones. They’re not particularly expensive and will keep your health in check.
Air fresheners may smell great, but they’re also full of chemicals and toxins that can cause serious respiratory problems, hormonal imbalance and nose and throat cancer. Instead of commercial air fresheners, we suggest using essential oils – they have a pleasant aroma and provide more than a few health benefits as well. To use them as an air freshener, put 10-15 drops of your favorite oil in a spray bottle and spray it around your home whenever you need.
Commercial Cleaning Products
Store-bought cleaning products have become pretty cheap and easy to use nowadays. You know why they’re cheap? Because they’re full of chemicals. Cleaning with them once won’t do much damage but using them on a regular basis like most of us do can release toxic chemicals and fumes in the air and cause hormonal imbalance and respiratory problems such as asthma.
The seemingly innocent store-bought toothpaste contains fluoride and saccharin among other dangerous chemicals. Toothpaste is supposed to protect our teeth from rotting, and besides being ineffective, the chemicals inside them have been associated with serious ailments as well. Both saccharin and fluoride have been linked to thyroid problems and hormonal imbalance, so make sure to use your own homemade toothpaste with baking soda and coconut oil instead of spending money on this carcinogenic product.
Shampoos can be full of chemicals as well. Most anti-dandruff shampoos contain methylchloroisothiazolinone, a suspected mutagen, and ammonium laureth sulfate which is usually contaminated with 1,4-dioxane during the manufacturing process, creating a dangerous toxic concoction that can cause cancer.
They might keep moths out, but mothballs will do so at the expense of your health. The tiny balls contain naphthalene which has been linked to serious kidney and liver damage, as well as premature puberty, infertility, hormonal imbalance and cancer.
Although it is somewhat effective for destroying bacteria, antibacterial soaps have been found to contain triclosan, a compound which can mess up your hormones, boost the development of drug-resistant bacteria and raise the risk of cancer. Instead of these soaps, find recipes for homemade antibacterial soaps which are safer for your skin and the environment.
Antiperspirants and deodorants
It’s no secret that deodorants and antiperspirants contain a lot of parabens and other chemicals which can seriously harm your health. Women who use these products have been found to have a higher level of carcinogens in their breast tissue, which makes them a direct culprit for the increased risk of breast cancer.
Flea and Tick Repellents
Flea and tick repellents are not considered harmful as they keep these nasty critters off our backs. However, recent studies have shown that these products actually contain a high level of chemicals and toxins which are related to nausea, vomiting, headaches, seizures, dizziness, headaches and even cancer.
